Welcome
Copy-editing is an important stage in preparing a manuscript, but it is one that is often omitted.
As an author, it is very easy to get so close to the text on which you have spent so much time that you begin to miss errors and inconsistencies.
A fresh eye can spot things that are easily overlooked.
As a copy-editor, my job is to identify problems in manuscripts before they get to publishers or examiners, and to help you to correct them, thereby improving the quality of your writing.
Since I come fresh to your work, I can be objective about it, and spot flaws in arguments or phrasing, and spelling and grammatical errors you may have missed.
I specialize in academic and business copy-editing. My expertise is in philosophy and theology, in which I have advanced degrees, but I have extensive experience with papers from
most subjects in the humanities.
The motto at the top of this page is a Latinized form of Edward Bulwer-Lytton's famous statement that the pen is mightier than the sword.
As it indicates, a well-argued paper can be a powerful way to make your case.
Most of the work I receive needs to be formatted to one of the APA standards, but I am also familiar and comfortable with MLA, and Chicago (which is the standard I use in my own writing).
My aim is to help you to clarify your arguments and to present your work as well as possible. I always aim for the highest quality results. I am equally happy working in Canadian, American
and International English, but not other languages.
I always seek to respond flexibly to your needs. Welcome.
